Hordijk makes EPS production more sustainable with electric technology

Published on: 12-12-2024

At Hordijk, we continue to innovate to make our processes more sustainable. One big step is the introduction of wavefoamer technology in Delft. With this, we produce EPS (expanded polystyrene) with electricity instead of gas-fired steam.

This has three major advantages:

1. Less energy consumption

Thanks to direct heating with microwaves, this process uses considerably less energy.

2. Lower CO₂ emissions

No gas means no CO₂ from fossil fuels. Moreover, we use green electricity from sun and wind.

3. Use of recycled material

Up to 50% of EPS can consist of recyclate, contributing to further CO₂ reduction. This technology fits perfectly with our focus on sustainability and innovation. Do you have any questions or want to know more? Feel free to contact our Delft office.
