HDPE

High-density polyethylene is a versatile, strong and relatively elastic material.

High-density polyethylene (HDPE) is a versatile, strong and relatively elastic material used in many different products.

High density polyethylene is a polyolefin plastic. Because it remains elastic at room temperature, it is very suitable for use in packaging with varying surface area tensions. For example, milk bottles and cans or tube packaging.

The material has a high moisture barrier and is resistant to many chemicals. HDPE is opal (milky white). HDPE packaging can be stored in the freezer but is not suitable for temperatures above 70°C.

HDPE is easy to recycle and can be used, for example, for packaging home cleaning products. rHDPE should not be used in food packaging or so-called ‘personal care stay-on’ products.
